The Playwrights of Ergo Pink Fest 2020/21
Ergo Pink Fest is a juried theatre festival that supports and develops the works of women and playwrights of marginalized gender identities. The festival gives playwrights tailored dramaturgy and mentorship to help them take their work to the next level.
Early on last year, it became clear that the third year of EPF would have to work differently. As the entire industry went to work re-inventing and evolving their ideas of theatre, we asked ourselves what the heart of this festival is.
At its core, EPF aims to develop, elevate, and promote the important works of these artists. It is a chance to collaborate with peers, adapt to feedback, and share our passions with our community.
Collaboration. Adaptation. Shared Passion.
This third year of EPF has been a year of ongoing change. Despite the challenges this pandemic has brought, the core intention and the spirit of the festival have remained strong. It is a true testament to all the theatre artists who continue to create together and come to the work with an open mind and open heart.
Though we were unable to open up the work to a public forum this year, we did have the opportunity to showcase the work in closed sessions with influential leaders in the theatre industry. We were able to focus on developing these new pieces, and in dealing with the loss of the in-person experience, we found a strong and supportive community in each other.
We would like to thank all of the artists who went above and beyond to not only make the third year of this festival work, but to bring joy and inspiration to every session.
We look forward to year four and being together again.
